Slim DVD Cases
Welcome to SlimDVDCases.net, a site dedicated to providing you with links to the best sales and stores online, plus information on why you should be investing in slim dvd cases instead of regular ones.
So what are the advantages of slim DVD cases? First of all, and most obviously, they take up a lot less space than regular DVD cases. Regular cases are usually about 15 mm thick, while slim cases are only 7 or 8 mm thick. That means they take up around half the space. This may not seem all that meaninful if you’ve only got 10 DVDs, but if you’ve got a serious collection of 50, 100 or even hundreds of DVDs, that’s a lot of shelf space you’ll be saving.
Another option for thin DVD storage is CD jewel cases, but the problem with them is that they are not very durable. Chances are you’ve dropped a CD case at some point in your life and seen it shatter into a thousand pieces – not a pleasant experience, and even less so if the CD or DVD inside breaks or is damaged at the same time.
You could also store your DVDs in a binder or in a sleeves in a box. These are both practical applications and do save a lot of space, but if you’re transferring existing DVDs with covers and/or liner notes, you’re not going to have anywhere to put them. Also, searching through boxes of DVDs or big binders can be very time consuming and difficult. And there’s something less impressive about a big DVD collection in a shoe box than there is in cases on a shelf.
So what about disadvantages of slim DVD cases? The only big problem with them is that existing covers and notes for regular sized DVD cases might not fit in them perfectly. However, this problem is fairly easy to overcome if you simply cut about 3 mm from each short side of the DVD cover. You can use a ruler or book to help you get this perfectly straight so there won’t be much noticable difference. You should still be able to read the text on the spine without any problems as well, so searching for your DVDs shouldn’t be a big issue.
I recommend that you buy a pack of slim DVDs, you should be able to get 10 for around $12 to $15 at the most, and try them out. Most people are more than satisfied and end up moving their entire collection.
